Welcome back to East Bay Smart Senior! After many technical problems too complicated for me to understand or to explain and a pandemic, we are back with many interesting and compelling stories about housing options and other resources for older adults. For awhile, not much was happening. Housing options were on the back burner for a lot of people. They just wanted to stay put.

I have a friend who traded her big house in North Berkeley for her daughter’s 900

square foot bungalow in El Cerrito. My friend is happy because she has all the room

she needs and cleaning is much easier and her daughter is happy because her kids

have their own rooms and a big backyard to play in.

The Front Porch Home Match program is busy matching older home owners with

people needing housing. They have taken over the UC Berkeley Retirement Center’s

program. We will have more information about them in the near future.

In February, the Realtors Resource for Seniors committee held a very successful Senior

Fair with lots of vendors who provide services for homeowners wanting to age in place

and/or explore alternative housing.

There are lots of other exciting options to explore and we will do so. Please subscribe

to the new East Bay Smart Senior on the home page.
